Welcome to Glen Jakes Riding School

NEWS JUST IN

WE ARE REOPENING ON SATURDAY 6TH JUNE!!! this is for group lessons (better beginner to advanced level) and privates only.

The office will be open WEDNESDAY 3RD/THURSDAY/FRIDAY 9AM-4PM to take your calls and bookings

How you will now approach the yard

Please note:

  • For all group lessons we are working on reduced numbers of 5 in a class, so you may be offered a different time or day. Unfortunately at this time we CANNOT offer BEGINNER LEVEL group lessons, however we can offer private lessons instead. A parent will be required to help mount the rider and lead the pony.
  • All lessons are to be pre booked and paid for via card or correct cash in advance as we do not have the capacity for any unexpected guests.
  • Riders under the age of 16years can be accompanied by 1 parent ONLY. Riders 16years+ are to come down the yard alone and have no spectators with them.
  • Any riders booked must be able to mount unaided and adjust stirrups and girth or a parent must help do this under yard supervision. Parents are to be made aware that they are liable for their childs safety in this case.
  • All riders are to wear gloves, have their own hat (PASO15 STANDARD) and whip. All of these items will be available to buy from the office. If you wish to buy a riding hat and require a hat fitting this must be done by appointment only, call the office to arrange this. No hire of equipment is available at this time. Any riders without their own hat or gloves will not be able to ride.
  • Helpers/volunteers will not be able to work currently due to COVID-19 as we are trying to keep the number of people on the yard to a minimum.
  • We ask that you only arrive 10 minutes before your lesson, this is to allow time for visiting the office and mounting your pony. And leave promptly after your lesson, this is to reduce the amount of people on the yard at any one time.
  • When walking through the yard we ask that you do not wander or treat/stroke any of the horses and report straight to the office. This reduces any areas that require further disinfecting. At this time we will NOT ALLOW ANY TREATS TO BE FED TO THE HORSES.
  • There will be a waiting area for riders and parents that have arrived and reported to the office whilst waiting to mount. From this area you will be called one at a time to mount. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THIS AREA UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED.
  • For the 1 parent that wishes to watch the lesson, we have allocated the stalls on the viewing area for this purpose. 1 parent per stall, there will be a chair provided and we ask you wipe it down (with the wipes supplied) as you leave. THERE WILL BE NO SEATING AREA IN OR AROUND THE OFFICE.
  • Upon dismounting your pony a member of staff will take your pony from you so that tack can be wiped down and the pony put away safely.
  • In the event of a rider requiring first aid treatment staff will wear the correct PPE and we will not allow any parents into the paddock unless called for by a member of staff.
  • The toilet will remain open however we do strongly discourage you from using them and try to go at home where possible.
  • The weight limit for our horses still stands at 15 stone, so please do not be offended if we ask you to stand on the scales. This is to ensure we are allocating the correct horse to each rider.
  • The office tuck shop will remain closed at this time.
  • Please keep a 2 meter distance at all times. If you are showing any Corona Virus symptoms we ask that you do not come to the yard

Please find a couple of videos below which should help you prepare for when we reopen
